Diarrhea is one of the most unwanted conditions for us. It is not a dangerous health problem because it can manage very easily. But the main problem is, Diarrhea can alter our daily routine totally. We can’t go outside the home because suddenly we need to go to toilet. Our daily routine hampers for at least 2-3 days.
What is Diarrhea?
World health organization gives a wonderful definition of Diarrhea. And that is “passage of loose watery stools three or more times in 24 hours is called diarrhea. So when you have to go toilet frequently and pass a soft watery stool then you are a diarrhea patient.
What causes diarrhea?
Actually the most common cause of diarrhea is virus. This virus can enter your body through water or contaminated food. Certain bacteria also can causes diarrhea. Sometimes excessive alcohol consumption can cause diarrhea.
How to get rid of diarrhea:
Al though diarrhea disappear 3-4 days normally. but some measure can decrease its duration. Diarrhea is a condition in which your GIT motility increases more than normal rate and you lose lot of water, electrolyte and minerals from your body. So the treatment is based on a simple basic rule and that is correction of your water and electrolyte balance.
Keep your body well hydrate:
Loss of fluid and electrolyte make you weak and hampers your normal body functions. So drink plenty of water to correct that fluid loss. Normally we should take at least 2-3 liters water in a day but during the period of diarrhea you should increase the volume of water intake.
Oral rehydration salt:
The first choice for the correction of fluid loss is oral rehydration salt. Take ORS every time after passes stool.1 liter ORS can give you 2.6gm NaCl, 1.5gm KCl, 2.5gm Trisodium citrate and 13.5gm glucose. These constituent can make your fluid and electrolyte balance normal.
Take Dab or coconut water:
Coconut water can help you a lot in diarrhea. It is a natural source of water and electrolyte. It is a rich in potassium .it can give you a better feelings because it is easy to take and very helpful in diarrhea.
Eat bananas:
Banana is a fruit which is rich in potassium. In diarrhea your digestion and absorption hampers a lot. But banana is easily digestible fruit.
Drink carrot juice:
In Diarrhea, carrot juice can play a very beneficial role. Carrot juice is rich in vitamin A, pectin and mineral. Take at least glass of carrot juice in a day. You can add sugar to make the juice tasty. If you want than you can take carrot after cook along with other foods.
Take ginger:
We all know that Ginger is very good for health. It helps in digestion process. It also has anti-spasmodic properties. So during diarrhea, it can relief you from abdominal cramps. You can take ginger by mixing with a cup of hot water. You can also add honey to make that testy. Take that ginger tea 2-3 times in a day.
Eat Brown rice:
Taking brown rice can be an easy solution for the treatment of diarrhea. Brown rice is a source of vitamin B and it can relief the symptoms which is associated with diarrhea. Making brown rich is not a difficult task. Simply take a cup of brown rice and boil them in three cup of water. Boil them until they become extra soft. You can add sugar or ripe banana to make the brown rice tasty.
Drink chamomile tea:
Chamomile tea can play an important role in diarrhea. It can reduce the spasm of the GIT. Taking 2-3 cups lf chamomile tea can be a useful remedy for diarrhea. You can also take other green tea for the alternative of chamomile tea.
Black seed oil and yogurt mixture:
Black seed and yogurt mixture is another useful remedy in diarrhea. Simply mix a teaspoon of black seed oil with a cup of flavored or plain yogurt and take this twice in a day.
Apple cider vinegar:
Apple cider vinegar can also help you to get rid of diarrhea. It can reduce the symptom of diarrhea. Simply mix a teaspoon of ACV with a glass of water and take it twice in a day.
Avoid rich food:
During diarrhea you must avoid rich foods like fast foods, dairy product, oily foods or fatty foods.
Something you should keep in mind:
Diarrhea is a treatable and easily manageable GIT problem. But when there is a presence of blood and mucus with stool or burning sensation in anus than you should visit a doctor. Sometimes diarrhea along with vomiting can be a dangerous condition. If vomiting persist than you should visit the doctor immediately.
